What Are The Two Construction Phases?
Phase One - began late May 2004 - FINISHED!
- Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing work in the existing building.
- Demolition of the former Student Publications space and the former Games Room in the UC Basement.
- Construction of the new Post Office in the space formerly occupied by Student Publications and the Game Room.
- Construction of a new loading dock and elevator to service the new Post Office and service tunnel.
- Utility work on the areas surrounding the existing building.
- Expansion of the existing mechanical building on the south of the UC to accommodate the new AC equipment.
- Work needed to make the Alumni Center a stand-alone building.
Phase Two - scheduled to begin January 2005 and lasting 22-24 months
- Demolition of the existing one-story portion of the UC.
- Construction of three (3) new floors on this site.
- Closing of Alumni Drive from the north end of the new building to approx. where the bookstore doors are on the existing building.
- Construction of turnarounds at either end of Alumni Drive.
- Landscaping the area between the Student Center and the Academic Core as a pedestrian plaza.
